Description

This research investigates the impact of exploring multi-core architectures on relational query parallel processing. We do this by using worker nodes, which process data but do not store data (that is, they do not have access to a disk), and data nodes, which process and store data, deployed on the same machine using the MyriaX engine of the Myria Big Data Management System. Worker nodes act on the pipeline of the parallel query to process operators that do not need access to the base tables.

It was conducted in the context of Frank Willian Rodrigues da Silva's M.Sc. at Instituto de Computação of Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), under the suppervision of Vanessa Braganholo (UFF) and Victor Almeida (PETROBRAS/UFF). Frank is currently an employee at Universidade do Estado de Mato Grosso (UNEMAT).
